Setting LOVE in Motion

LOVE IT FORWARD

LOVE IT FORWARD is a movement to set Love in Motion. When more people feel loved, able to give love, the world will be a lovelier and more peaceful place.


LOVE IT FORWARD - the spread of love like a ripple that radiates outwards - is a concept and a way of thinking, because LOVE is such a beautiful thing with such tremendous power, yet many of us tend to either forget or don't know how to express LOVE.

TO LOVE seems so simple a thing to do, yet it seems to be a difficult action to undertake. Especially for us Asians, we generally tend to be more reserved in expressing LOVE, and openly communicating our LOVE to our family members and loved ones. It is not unusual for family problems to be caused by the lack of showing of LOVE, and therefore lack of feeling of LOVE. It's an irony that while many desire so much to be loved, they are so afraid to give love.

LOVE IT FORWARD is a calling and is initiated by four friends who share a common belief in:
  1. The power of LOVE.
  2. That everyone is being deeply LOVED by someone.
  3. That everyone is worthy of being LOVED by someone.
Our mission is to set LOVE into MOTION.

We shall take the first step towards advocating LOVE IT FORWARD so that not only our own family members but friends and people around us would experience the magical touch and warmth of LOVE. When more people are reminded of and feel the LOVE in daily lives, we are certain that it will have a catalytic effect in bringing about greater joy, peace and happiness to our world today.

On the first Sunday of every month, our families and us will lead the spreading of LOVE along Orchard Road in Singapore and our message is a simple one: to remind everyone that he/she is being deeply LOVED and that he/she could go out and express LOVE to their loved ones.

Our humble target is to be able to inspire 300 people in 3 months (by Feb 2008) to join us in doing the LOVE IT FORWARD exercise every first Sunday of the month at the same time but in different parts of Singapore.

We welcome anyone who shares our ideal to join us in LOVE IT FORWARD and help set the magical power of LOVE into motion. For friends outside of Singapore, we invite you to join us in spirit and action, and do keep in touch with us through this website.

Love It Forward - 把爱传出去, 是一个理念, 一种想法. 因为, “爱”, 对我们而言, 是那么美妙, 是那么有力量, 但人们却往往忘记或不懂如何去表达”爱”.

“爱”看似简单, 却又好像是很难的行为. 尤其, 我们东方人, 总是对爱的表达比较生涩, 不敢表达我们对家人的爱, 有时甚至因此而伤害了我们的家人. 进而导至许多家庭问题, 而我们内心却是渴望着爱, 但又不敢付出爱.

Love It Forward, 是一个使命, 是由四个普通的人, 四个有共同理念的人- 我们的理念:

  1. 相信爱的力量
  2. 相信每一个人都是深深被爱着的
  3. 相信每一个人都是值得被爱
我们的使命: 把”爱”付出行动

因此, 我们愿意踏出第一步, 由我们自己开始, 提倡 Love it forward, 不仅对我们的家人,也进而对外所有人. 让所有我们可以接触到的人感受到爱, 感受到那份温暖.

我们将会在每一月的第一个礼拜天, 由我们四个家庭开始, 我们会在新加坡乌节路上, 散播我们的爱, 让每一个人都知道, 他们是深深被爱着的.

我们的目标: 希望在3个月後, 我们可以发动300个人在全新加坡同一个时间, 不同地点一起把爱传出去.

Letter from Josephine (to all associates)

Dear Friends,

Hello! It’s me, Josephine! As the leader of Avita, Scent’al Group, this is the first time I am writing to all of you. Previously, I always communicate directly with my first or second generation leaders, and not directly with everyone.

The main purpose of writing this letter is to pen down my thoughts and feelings which I have held on to over the years. First of all, I would like to express my gratitude to everyone, for the past years’ support and mutual encouragement. There are many memories which live on vividly in my mind; like the times when we traveled abroad together to expand our networks; conducted education and training; and then shopping. In Singapore , we planned for our futures together whilst developing our networks. We have shared many happy moments, endured some challenging ones, shed tears together, experienced joy and success collectively. Images of each of these times flash endlessly in my mind and my heart. In the past few years, I have been bestowed with so many fond memories of times spent with all of you. I really cherish them with all my heart.

In migrating from an old company to a new one, after all the waiting, hoping and your patient support, we finally have a better stage for us to perform on. Here, I would like to thank everyone for your support and belief.

As for the new associates, I wholeheartedly welcome you into our Scent’al Group family. Let us give ourselves the opportunity to learn from each other, grow and share. This is a special gift of fate - because of you, my life has become more colourful! Let us bring Scent’al to greater heights!

Scent’al, in the coming months, will focus on promoting LOHAS lifestyle. LOHAS - Lifestyle of Health and Sustainability, promotes a healthy lifestyle, not just for our families and ourselves, but even more so for the protection of our environment. Health refers to healthy diet, living, emotional and spiritual exploration and personal development. All because we believe that everyone is important.

We will be sending out a monthly E-Newsletter to keep in touch with you, to continuously provide you with health related information, as well as keeping you informed of any special promotions.

Lifestyle Of Health And Sustainability

LOHAS is an acronym for Lifestyles of Health and Sustainability, a market segment focused on health and fitness, the environment, personal development, sustainable living, and social justice. The consumers attracted to this market have been collectively referred to as Cultural Creatives and represent a sizable group in the U.S. - approximately 16% percent of the adults or 35 million people, are currently considered LOHAS Consumers.

The LOHAS concept is the brainchild of US sociologist Paul Ray and psychologist Sherry Anderson, co-authors of The Cultural Creatives: How 50 Million People are Changing the World. The popular book, first published in 2000, identified a disparate US subculture with common concerns for such issues as the environment, well-being and social justice. The authors aimed to help these so-called “cultural creatives” unite, and in doing so they pegged a consumer demographic ripe for the picking.

If you're reading this, it's likely that you're part of a diverse and growing community of businesses that provide sustainable goods and services to consumers identified as Cultural Creatives in groundbreaking research conducted by sociologist Paul Ray. Ray found a group of educated consumers who make conscientious purchasing and investing decisions based on social and cultural values.

The emergence of the Cultural Creatives as market drivers is unparalleled in U.S. history. Ray's research shows that one in four adult Americans is part of this group—nearly 50 million people. These consumers are the future of your business and also the future of progressive social, environmental and economic change in this country. The industry that serves these consumers has been identified in a research report by Conscious Wave and given the moniker of Lifestyles of Health and Sustainability, or LOHAS—a market conservatively estimated at $209 billion in the U.S., and growing. Are You Lohasian?
The new New Age about spiritual ritual, the environment, health, sustainability, and style

It's a Lohasian moment. The term for these 21st-century New Agers derives from an acronym created by marketers on the West Coast—LOHAS, as in Lifestyles of Health and Sustainability. The movie "The Celestine Prophecy", based on the 1993 book that may be the most popular alternative-spirituality book of the last few decades. Next comes the film version of Dan Millman's book "Way of the Peaceful Warrior," about a lost young gymnast who is guided through a mystical transformation by a wise mentor. And Al Gore's movie on global warming, "An Inconvenient Truth," is bound to be popular with the ecologically minded Lohasians.

LOHAS consumers, represent 17 percent of the U.S. population, according to a report released by the Natural Marketing Institute at a LOHAS conference in Santa Monica, Calif. The study said Lohasians are "dedicated to personal and planetary health." Seventy-three percent bought recycled paper goods, and 71 percent bought natural or organic "personal care" products. They pay more to get foods without pesticides and want their cars fuel-efficient.

Among the products and services offered at the conference this year were detoxifying pine oil, organic body lotion, ecofriendly spas, and recycled-cashmere sweaters. A decade ago, one attendee said, the conference vendor room offered only "broccoli and tomatoes." Lohasians shop just as widely for spiritual practices. From Buddhism: meditation and admiration of "nothingness." From Hinduism: yoga, gurus, color and chanting. From paganism: an emphasis on honoring nature. From Asian cultures: feng shui and acupuncture. Lohasians devour heaping doses of Western psychotherapy, plus the ideas of the recovery movement ("one day at a time"). They identify as "spiritual, not religious," and many believe in "synchronicity" or "meaningful coincidences" that might be guided by a spirit world.

Does this sound like someone you know? If you have a yoga mat and "singing bowls," if you chant or do polarity therapy or energy healing, if you consume goji berries or biodynamic organic wines, you just might be a Lohasian.
